De Wijkraad – Eric Hendrickx

Eric Hendrickx ~ Council member
My name is Eric Hendrickx. I was born in Venlo and have been living in the beautiful Brandevoort district with my wife since 2015. I work for the Municipality of Eindhoven on the challenging topic of the energy transition.
I enjoy the neighborhood with its beautiful homes and abundant greenery. The local amenities are excellent, and there is a pleasant atmosphere with many activities. To maintain this quality of living, the commitment of residents is essential. As a member of the district council board, I would like to contribute to safeguarding this quality of life and supporting new developments that positively impact life and well-being in the neighborhood.
Since 2019, I have been a board member of the district council, focusing primarily on the area development of Nieuw Brandevoort (formerly Brainport Smart District (BSD)), located north of the railway line. I act as an intermediary between the district council and the project organization, ensuring we stay well-informed about plans for the new neighborhood and, when necessary, provide input or relay questions from the community.
The Users Council of Brainport Smart District—a kind of advisory group in which I participated—was discontinued after the transition from BSD to Nieuw Brandevoort. We now need to proactively maintain contact with the project organization to represent the interests of both current residents and future residents of Nieuw Brandevoort. This is not so much about how the neighborhood will look, but rather about the facilities in the new district. These should not conflict with those in the existing Brandevoort. We aim to broaden and strengthen amenities, not weaken them. Let’s make Brandevoort even more beautiful!
